CAF 46th Ordinary General Assembly: Day 1

The 46th Ordinary General Assembly of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) is underway in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Liberia is represented by the President of the Liberia Football Association (LFA), Mustapha I. Raji; General Secretary Emmett Crayton; Executive Committee Member Cyrus Yeanay; and FC Bea Mountain President Ben Davis.

Day one of the assembly commenced with the WAFU A Zonal Union meeting. CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, leaders of WAFU Zone A, and member associations discussed progress made so far and football development in Africa.

Dr. Motsepe expressed heartfelt appreciation to member associations for their unwavering commitment to elevating African football. "Your steadfastness and dedication have been pivotal in steering our vision forward," he said.

He outlined four fundamental pillars guiding CAF’s agenda: Football Development, Administration, Capacity Building, and Competition Management.

WAFU A President Lamin Kaba Bajo also expressed gratitude to the members for their hard work and dedication.

During the interactive session, President Mustapha Raji passionately called for equitable financial support for women’s football clubs, recalling the $50,000 allocated to men's clubs during qualifiers. "We must bolster our women’s teams and ensure they receive the financial backing they deserve," he said.

Raji also raised the issue of unsettled payments from WAFU A that have plagued Liberia since 2018. "We have waited long enough. This is not just about finances but about fairness and commitment to developing football in our nations," he said.

He concluded by thanking CAF for the capacity-building initiatives that are transforming African football.

Dr. Motsepe responded with genuine admiration, thanking Mr. Raji for his unwavering dedication and the significant strides he continues to make for football in Liberia.
