LFA President has again reminded referees that as head of Liberia football house or CAF EC member,  it’s not in his power and control to select referees to play at AFCON or CAF clubs competitions.
Mustapha Raji told 22 Referee assessors at the start of a four-day FIFA Strategic Referee workshop for both instructors and assessors that the decision to select referees is based on performance and decisions from CAF Referee Committee.
“As president of the LFA, I do not have the power or authority to control the selection of referees that are designated for matches in CAF Champions League, CAF Cup of Nations, or any competition.
“It’s based on your performance and the decision that comes from the referee Committee and team.
“At no point in time do we interfere as Executive Committee member, to select individuals and if you can not perform, you certainly won’t be designated,” Raji said emphatically.
Raji was speaking on Saturday, 20 July at the declaration of a four-day FIFA Referee Assessors and Instructors workshop at the LFA HQ in Congo Town.
The training facilitator Numandiez Desire Doue, who is CAF Referee Manager called on all 22 participants attending the four-day course to use it so start a new project with new challenges.
Mr. Doue was keen why Liberia referees aren’t seen in CAF top competitions especially after producing some of the best players that have brought proud to the African continent.
“We don’t see Liberian referees in our top competitions...Why! Why!
“We hope that after this course, we’ll start a new process with new challenges, Mr. Doue said.
The four-day Assessor and Instructor training was also graced by the 2nd Vice President Adolphus Dolo, who was quick to remind referees to not be politicians.
LFA Referee Committee Chairman Judge Joseph Kollie appreciated President Raji for the training and called for discipline in the profession of refereeing.
The course will include both theory and practical for the next four days.
Lead facilitator Desire Doue and assistant will lecture on Ethics and Integrity, Modern Refereeing, Position & Reading and Practical training sessions with players & IFB
