The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has released a code of conduct for the technical staff and players of all national teams.
Addressing a news conference on Tuesday, acting LFA President Wilmot Smith said the code of conduct is basically intended to guide players and technical staff while they are on camp.
Smith said the guidelines are intended to get the best performance from the players and technical staff.
The press conference was attended by LFA technical director Henry Browne, LFA legal and competitions director Atty. Benedict A. Yarsiah and head coach Thomas Kojo.
Kojo and his technical staff and the players, who were selected for the international friendly with Equatorial Guinea on 21 July in Malabo, signed the code of conduct before their departure on Wednesday.
Here are the ground rules for the Liberian national teams.
1. Players must be very active on their respective clubs for the season.
2. Playing time is the very first requirement [for being called-up to the national teams]. They [players] must play at least 60-80 percent of their league games.
3. The head coach [and or technical staff] must make use of Flashscore and all other web applications available [including websites of clubs, social media platforms and satellite televisions] to track the performance of players in their respective foreign leagues.
4. Technical report must be submitted within 48-72 hours after every game by the head coach and his technical staff. The head coach will be issued a formal warning if there is a failure to do so.
5. Deceptively calling a player on camp or risking a player under injury by the technical staff is punishable up to dismissal.
6. Provisional players’ list for game should be submitted to the technical director 14 days ahead of every game for foreign-based and local players. The final list must be released one week before going to camp. Adjustments will be accepted in the event of emergency.
7. Players listed will have to do a full medical assessment of their fitness levels along with the national team’s doctor at a recommended hospital.
8. While in training and up to the game time, players must be made to eat the recommended meal. Towards this initiative, a nutritionist will form part of the technical staff.
9. Out of the one thousand United States dollars (US$1,000) allowance that will be given per game, seven hundred United States dollars (US$700), will be presented to each player upon arrival on camp. The balance three hundred United States dollars (US$300) will serve as a behavioral bond deposit, which will be given to the player right after the game.
10. A player, who breaks camping rules and is expelled from camp, will be made to give back the full amount received prior to going on camp.
11. Foreign-based players call-up for games must report directly to the camp upon arrival from the airport and remain on camp until the game is over.
12. Absolutely no visitors will be allowed in the players’ hotel/camp before and during the game.
13. All electronic gadgets (including phones) are to be grounded by 9:00PM for the convenience of relaxation and concentration.
14. Absolutely no player should leave the hotel/camp premises before and during the game except for practice purposes.
