The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has lifted the ban it imposed on referee Josephus Torjilar.
The decision was reached by the executive committee and endorsed at the 24th ordinary congress in Paynesville on 12 June.
Referee Torjilar was banned for two years in August 2019 for accepting bribe following an investigation conducted by the LFA grievance and disciplinary committee.
During the investigation, Torjilar admitted he received US$100 after a second division relegation play-off match that saw Pags FC beat Srimex FC 2-0.
Meanwhile, the Liberia Football Referees Association (Lifra) has joyfully thanked the LFA for pardoning Torjilar.
“We are grateful for your decision and again wish to assure everyone including our fellow stakeholders of our commitment and cooperation in ensuring a high level of credibility and professionalism in the running of football.
“We also wish to express our gratitude to all (the LFA executive committee) for the passage of the 2020 budget in which the interest and well-being and functioning of our referees/institution is being highly considered.
“We are aware that we are not there compared to others on the continent, specifically our neighbors, but we will get there gradually.
“We are highly appreciative of the reforms and transformation at the LFA in the running of football and as well as beholden of the approved increment of match indemnities for referees.
“We say a very big thank you for your continue cooperation and understanding of the plight of referees,” Lifra said in a letter signed by President Joseph Kollie, secretary-general Abrahan Fahnbulleh and chief referee Lami Kamara
